“Phoenix Communication College of Soochow University” Jointly Established by Soochow University and Hong Kong Phoenix TV Phoenix Communication College of Soochow University was established through the joint effort of Soochow University and Hong Kong Phoenix TV by signing an agreement at Diaoyutai State GuestHouse in March 10th, 2009. The signing ceremony was overseen by WANG Zhuojun, the CCP committee secretary of Soochow University, ZHU Xiulin, President of the University, YIN Aisun, the Vice President; LIU Changle, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Satellite Television holdings Ltd, CHUI Keung, the Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the corporation and others of leadership from both sides.
Hong Kong Phoenix TV was founded in 1996 and is currently a leading mandarin satellite TV operator in the global market. Its diverse array of holdings ranges from TV the core business to Print Media as new media and magazines, broadcasts, outdoor media and education and training programs. Phoenix Education which is subordinate to Phoenix TV Group specializes in education and training fostering talents with international vision and practical techniques. It is the very executive entity handling details of this joint educational programme from Phoenix side.
According to the agreements, on the basis of the existing journalism and communication college of Soochow University, the new college will be named after both parties, taking full advantages of each resources and brand impact. Under the guidance of advanced educational notion, the new college will uphold the principle of “high starting point,high standard, applied and international orientation”and explore the new talent-training mode following the operating mechanism of modern market and media business, aiming to build a leading communication school combining market, research and study with applied and international orientation. The Phoenix Communication College will remain the property of public ownership and secondary to Soochow University. Necessary financial support and intangible assets from Phoenix TV wil be provided to the college through Phoenix Education.
Founding Phoenix School of Communication has been the first joint programming with overseas famous enterprises for Soochow University, which sets the milestone of implementing the school’s strategy of “promoting domestic superiority with international reputation” and will undoubtedly bring the relevant teaching and researching of the University up to a new level. It will help the university gain further recognition in a worldwide range and improve its internationalized education system. This cooperation is also a good opportunity for Soochow University to deepen the reform of inner management system and leads it to a successful exploration over internationalized education as a timely issue for innovation.
